Meet Lexi Sim!
Originally from Maryland, Lexi moved to California to study Agroecology. She received her degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she enjoyed taking courses pertaining to environmental studies, community studies, art history, and sustainability. Her interest in farming blossomed from her childhood neighbors, who introduced her to gardening and composting– from there it was largely self-directed, and has become reflective of understanding the disconnect between us as consumers, our food systems, nature, and social justice. She is excited to spend more time out in the fields– she has spent a bit of time interning and volunteering on several small-scale, organic farms in the Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay region, including UCSC’s Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems. In her free time, you can most likely still find Lexi outdoors: she enjoys surfing, rock climbing, biking, hiking, camping, and traveling. She also loves to read, knit, do yoga, take film photos, listen to music, cook, and dabble in fermentation.

Hi! My name is Lexi, and I’m super excited to be joining the team here at Terra Cultura. I live in Santa Cruz, where I recently received my BA in Agroecology at UCSC. I’ve also taken coursework related to art history, community studies, social justice, and environmental studies, which have really helped me to develop a well-rounded understanding of all the pillars of agriculture and agroecology– the ecological and social aspects. I’m really looking forward to spending more time in the fields and expanding my own knowledge of organic and agroecological farming, as well as literally expanding the farm and working land at Terra Cultura. I’ve spent time at various small-scale, organic farms in the Monterey Bay region, interning and volunteering to work the fields. In my free time I love surfing, climbing, reading, and cooking. I also love to travel, and I just came back from a month-long road trip across the country, where I spent a lot of time visiting friends, camping, backpacking, and hiking. I’m so happy to be back and to start as a member of the team, and to get to work in the fields!
